The virtual instruments output to one or more audio channels in the Mix Console, and you can configure insert effects, sends, and output routings for the channels. With this approach, it can be difficult to render Instrument Tracks to audio correctly. Studio One makes it simple by transforming Instrument Tracks into Audio Tracks in one step. Right-click on any Instrument Track and select Transform to Audio Track from the context menu. You will then see several options in the pop-up menu: • Render Inserts. If you would like to render the insert effects on the related virtual instrument Output Channel, check this option. If not, the inserts will be applied to the new Audio Track. • Preserve Instrument Track State. If you would like to be able to transform from the new Audio Track back to the original Instrument Track, check this option. • Remove Instrument. | Thanks, ScottyO. I actually tried that before writing, but nothing happens. When I attempt to 'transform' the instrument track, I get the pop up box with the 4 choices already ticked (render, preserve, remove, auto tail). Pressing OK does not lead to any audio track being created. I tried turning off 'remove instrument' and still nothing. | Hi Jeff. Can you explain how you're doing it? I think the problem is that you are using the MIDI track to trigger sounds on your vocal track,if so, that will not work. |
| Hi Luis. Thanks again. The Izotope manual says the following: 1. Add a new Audio Track. 2. Find and choose 'iZotope Nectar 2' VST as an insert effect on the track. 3. In the Advanced View of Nectar, engage the Harmony module and engage the MIDI Control button. 4. Add a new Instrument Track. 5. In the Instrument Track's I/O settings, change the Output from 'None' to 'Nectar 2'. 6. In the Instrument Track's I/O settings, change the Input to your desired MIDI Input Device. 7. Record arm the Instrument track, if it is not already. 8. Playback audio, and use your MIDI Input Device to play and record harmonies. I think I have all this set up correctly, as I can hear the harmonised voices I'm creating. | The reason you can't 'transform' the Instrument track to audio is because in this case,there's nothing to transform, the MIDI notes are being sent to the audio track creating the harmonies when you play the keyboard, if you mute the audio track, you won't hear anything from the MIDI track. Also if you look at the mixer you'll notice that there's no channel for the Nectar 2 track. If you want to have an actual audio file from your performance,try this. 1 Create a bus. 2 Send the vocal track to the bus you just created. 3 Add a stereo track,choose the bus as input. 4 In the plugin click Solo Voices. 5 Hit record. Hope that helps. |

| Just a thought here.... I take my midi tracks and feed them directly to audio tracks (1 for 1).... MIDI input is recorded to audio and then the midi can be removed before mix down.
